Lake House Taylor,
Nebraska
Located in the Sandhills
of central Nebraska this house serves as a retreat from the urgency
of today's hectic lifestyle. The house is designed to sit within the landscape
and take advantage of natural views of the lake and surrounding grasslands.
It is situated in such a way that it takes advantage of the sun's
natural path and brings it into the interior spaces. The marks upon
and within the land represent not a claim of the land but instead an inhabitation
within the land; natural outdoor areas for sitting, the ability to open
the house up and bring the landscape inside but just as important to bring
the inside out. Similar to the abandoned bus on the site the house
serves as an artifact to be actively discovered and explored. The idea
of being a mere passive spectator on the land fails to generate a fullfilled
and meaningful experience of interacting with(in) the land.
